Nice to meet you

Happy Monday! I've noticed quite a few new followers since the Chatabix Battle of The Chatabands happened (!!) so I thought I'd re-introduce myself to all you lovely people 🤩

My name's Maryanne, but most people call me Mezz. I had two kids in my early twenties and they're now teenagers and amazing humans. I also have an adopted Staffy X dog called Banjo who I love so much it’s ridiculous. Me and my partner met when we were teenagers and have slowly and surely built a lovely little life for ourselves and our family. He's the best! We live in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.

I'm an independent artist which means, on the whole, I do basically everything on my own. On top of trying to make my actual music, I'm managing, promoting, funding (augh) and planning it all myself. I hate that side of it, but I've learnt if you just wait for a record label or manager to materialise from thin air and do it all for you, you'll be waiting a long time!

One of my big goals for 2024 is to find some more support moving forward (whatever that may look like) because releasing an album on my own last year was tough. I want to keep the momentum going but it will need to be more sustainable (financially, emotionally, psychologically) than last year!

I also turn 40 later this year which I think I have been freaking out about for a while, but when I look around at a lot of my friends I can see that 40 is when woman seriously step into their TRUE POWER so now I'm like, fuck it, bring it on!
